Çintemani is an frequent encountered Ottoman pattern.
However, not only in the Ottoman Empire and Islamic arts; but also çintemani express strong meanings in eastern philosophy.

The Ottoman artist considered this pattern to be a symbol of strength, power and sovereignty. The three circles drawn are similar to the spots on a leopard skin and the two wavy lines are similar to the tiger skin. That is the reason why it is extensively used in decorating the caftans of the Ottoman Sultans and their sons.
