Can you tell us a bit about your self ?

There are three of us as Tass Porcelain, but if I need to talk about myself, I was born in Izmir, I have always been in Izmir throughout my education and career. I graduated from Yaşar University, Department of Public Relations and Advertising, with a double major from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema in 2012 with a degree. After working as a design team leader in an advertising agency for a long time, I started working as a media designer at Yaşar University. On the other hand, I completed my master's degree in Visual Communication Design at Anadolu University. With the normalization of remote work after the pandemic, I started to work as a completely freelance graphic designer, and at the same time I carry out Tass Porcelain's model, color selections, photo shoots, marketing and logistics works. I also offer online yoga classes. I can say that art, design and internal research are the main elements of my life.

How did you come to idea of Tass Porcelain ? How do the patterns you work with come out? Is there a story ?

It all started with a curiosity. We always liked the feel of light and thin porcelain cups. When we stayed at home in 2020 due to the pandemic, a question came to our minds, completely on my husband's curiosity, whether we could make our own glass at home. We started to make reproductions of rare retro glasses that we found in the second-hand and antique markets that we like to visit very much, with french limoges mud. Since we had plenty of time, we researched, tried, and stumbled, and even managed to build our own kiln since we couldn't go out. So we got our first glasses. Of course, we've come a long way since then. We brought together retro patterned glasses with pastel colors. When we saw a lot of demand from our environment, the journey of porcelain cups that we started as a hobby with curiosity from outside the field turned into an initiative. We work as a family in our small porcelain atelier and continue production.

What is your dream project ?

As Tass Porcelain, we have only produced porcelain cups until now, now we have an idea to expand our product range. When we think of a dream project, we can talk about a future plan that comes to mind to build a atelier and showroom in a coastal town, to have workshops and trainings in the same area, to be able to devote our full time here and to be more involved with mud. We want to make home decoration products and objects.

What inspires you the most ?

We are excited to reinterpret the glasses with modern colors with French Limoges mud while preserving the patterns of the glasses that we encounter in the antique markets, which have a life experience and nostalgic texture. I can say that it is inspiring for us to incorporate the past and the present together. While what we do seems to be mixing mud, molding and baking in a atelier, we actually think it's somehow more than that. Perhaps our greatest inspiration is the users who enjoy the same pleasure as us when they look at our glasses, sip their coffee in their homes, are valued enough to gift each other, and meet them in this way.
